The Membership Committee will work under the direction of the VP of Membership to manage recruitment, retention and engagement of members. Key responsibilities include processing membership applications, developing outreach activities to attract new members, and developing and promoting the benefits of membership. The membership committee will work with other committees to align membership efforts with the broader goals of AMISTAD.
The Programs Committee will work under the direction of the VP of Programs to plan, organize and develop events and activities. This includes securing venues, managing attendees, developing program materials, and providing logistical and operations support for AMISTAD programming.
Specific programs may include: Black History Month, Women's History Month, General Body Meetings, Law Day, Constitution Day, Summer Party/BBQ,

This Committee oversees the development and organization of educational programs designed to meet the professional development needs of AMISTAD's members. Members of the Committee may identify emerging legal topics, trends and areas where attorneys need further education, coordinate panelists and program materials, and ensure programs meet CLE credit requirements set by NYS,
The members of this committee may identify potential sources of revenue, such as membership dues, sponsorships, and special events to support AMISTAD's activities. This committee may work with other committees to develop programming or events to drive revenue.
The Community Outreach Committee is responsible for fostering positive relationships between the AMISTAD legal community and the public. The Committee organizes initiatives such as pro bono legal services, legal education programs, and community service projects to enhance access to justice, raise legal awareness, and support underserved populations. The goal is to strengthen the bar's role in promoting social responsibility and improving the legal systems accessibility to all.
The Law School Liaison Committee serves as a bridge between the bar and law schools. It fosters relationships with law students, faculty, and administration by coordinating programs such as mentoring, internships, career development opportunities, and educational events. The committee works to engage future lawyers, providing them with resources, guidance, and networking opportunities, while also promoting AMISTAD's role in the legal profession.
